Hello and welcome to my new site! Former readers might remember this blog as My Kid Stole My Cool, and prior to that, Non Om Mom. (Look, titles aren’t my strong suit.) I started blogging twelve years ago when I was pregnant with my first baby and preparing to move overseas to Japan, from where my husband would soon deploy. It was, as they say, a lot.
I loved having this space to chronicle new motherhood, my new home, new friends, new experiences. I loved connecting with moms and military spouses over our travel misadventures and parenting conundrums. I loved hearing from readers that I made them laugh.
But three kids (that brings the total to four – yes, four), a couple job changes, and several moves later, consistently writing became a challenge. I let this space go without much thinking about it. Until several months ago when a friend wrote me to ask where my blog went. I’m paraphrasing here, but she said something along the lines of, “I have a friend who has a new baby and is struggling. Your blog always made me feel better when I had my baby, and I wanted to share it with her.” I realized I missed having this outlet.
But alas, the blog has disappeared. Which was not a thing I knew could happen. Apparently, websites are hosted on servers and servers can expire? Or something? Well, after 12 years the site needed a facelift anyway! My extremely patient friend Michael at Fusion Web was able to recover most of my old content and build me a brand spanking new site. I hope you like it as much as I do! And if you do, I’d love if you share or subscribe or follow me on social. I promise there is no way I will post frequently enough to annoy you. Thanks for reading, Friends. Hope to hear from you soon.

I love that you’re taking time to write! Please promise to document all things K!
I will try! I know she’s a popular subject!
Think this will be good for you – and a pleasure (again) for the rest of us! Looking forward to it!
Thank you!
Yay!! This made my day! Can’t wait to be a loyal reader ❤️
Appreciate you, Friend!
Welcome back! Your blogs have always made me smile!
Thank you!
Love that I get to keep seeing you (as often or not) publish! Like your friend that encouraged this new phase of your writing, I have enjoyed it so! Keep it up, my friend!
Thank you, Jennifer!
